Certificate for project file — samples to copy.

A finished certificate page in a school project file
A real page built by Redrafty from our own sample project. The school and names are placeholders.
In short

What goes on a certificate.

  1. The heading — CERTIFICATE, centred at the top.
  2. Who and what: your name, class and section, roll number, school, the subject and the project title.
  3. When and how: the session — like 2026–27 — and that you did the project under your teacher’s guidance.
  4. Signatures: room for your subject teacher — and often the principal and the external examiner — with names and designations under the lines.

Some schools also want the school’s name or stamp in a set place — ask your teacher if there is a school format.

Where it goes

The pages of a project file, in order.

Front pageCertificateAcknowledgementIndexYour projectBibliography

The usual order — if your teacher asks for a different one, follow your teacher.

Tips

Do this. Skip that.

Do

  • Use the same project title as on the front page
  • Check the spelling of your teacher’s name and designation
  • Leave three or four empty lines for each signature
  • Write the current session

Don’t

  • Sign it yourself — the signatures are your teacher’s
  • Add a stamp or a name your school didn’t give you
  • Call it a “certificate of merit” — it confirms your work, not a prize
  • Leave your roll number out
FAQ

Questions? Answers.

Who signs the certificate of a project file?
Your subject teacher — and for Class 12 board practicals, often the principal and the external examiner too. In college, your project guide and the head of department.
Do I write the certificate myself?
Usually, yes: you type or write the page, and your teacher reads it and signs it. Never sign it yourself.
Where does the certificate go?
Right after the front page — before the acknowledgement and the index.
Certificate or declaration — what’s the difference?
Your teacher or guide signs the certificate. You sign the declaration — it says the work is your own. College reports usually have both; school project files usually only a certificate.
Is there an official CBSE certificate format?
Schools set the exact layout, so ask your teacher if there is a school format. The samples here follow the usual pattern: who, what, when and the signatures.
What session do I write?
The academic year you are in — for example 2026–27.
