There’s no single official Harvard style — every university publishes its own guide. So page layout, spacing and page numbers come up as things to review, not errors. Send Redrafty your university’s guide and it checks against that instead.

Prefer to do it yourself?

Set up Harvard in Word, step by step.

  1. Layout → Margins → Normal — 2.54 cm on every side.
  2. Select everything with Ctrl+A, then set Arial 11 or Times New Roman 12.
  3. In the Home → Paragraph settings, set line spacing to 1.5 lines.
  4. Select your reference list, then Home → Sort → Paragraphs, Text, Ascending — the entries line up A→Z.

FAQ

Questions? Answers.

Is there one official Harvard style?
No. Harvard is a family of author-date styles, and each university publishes its own version. Redrafty checks what they share and marks the rest as things to review. If you have your university’s guide, send it to Redrafty and it checks against that.
How should a Harvard reference list look?
Headed Reference list (or References) and sorted A→Z by the author’s surname. Many guides also ask for a hanging indent — check yours.
What font and spacing does Harvard use?
Most guides ask for Arial 11–12 or Times New Roman 12, with 1.5 or double line spacing.
Can I try it for free?
Yes. Your welcome gift in Redrafty covers a full check of about 2,300 words — no card needed. After that, about $1 covers a full report on ≈ 6,600 words.
Is my paper private?
Yes. Redrafty keeps no copy of your file. Formatting is checked by rules, not by AI, and your paper is never used to train AI. See our Privacy Policy.
